This is a kind of, sort of concept album. During the writing of it I was reading an odd combination of writers. Denis Johnson- particularly Jesus' Son and Train Dreams, and also Shirley Jackson's We Have Always Lived in the Castle and The Haunting of Hill House and some Muriel Spark on top of that.

As I was writing it I got the idea of the human mind becoming like a haunted house as you get older, full of rooms within rooms and somewhat worrying looking corridors. Secrets you might have forgotten about and some you wish you had.
